40hara – Shimapan (GOT, 2020) My Comment

40hara - Shimapan (2020 - GOT) - recenzja artbooka - rascal.pl

Shimapan is an artbook that is a compilation of work from several artists who decided to draw original illustrations for 40hara, the originator of this publication’s theme. Each page is dedicated to a separate artist and shows a girl in striped underwear on the left. The title Shimapan itself means striped panties to be exact. Bottom part of the underwear idarwn alone on the right. There is also brief information about the artist and his signature. At the very beginning, there is a table of contents with thumbnails and artists’ names.

It is appropriate to mention the very idea for the artbook logo. The last syllable of the word pan (short for パンツ/pantsu) – ン (n) – uses pantsu as this line at the top of the logo.
All the illustrations are rich in detail, with superbly executed shading. The sheer quality of the printing and the rich color saturation simply makes it great to look at. At the very end, there is an interview with the creator of the project (40hara) and Yom. He’s known primarily for a series of artbooks with the pantyhose theme (which I will certainly also write about in the future) and the anime Miru Tights, in which he made character designs. The publication counts 95 pages and is in A4 format. Shimapan is wrapped in a high-quality color wrapper and obi. All the artists whose work is inside are listed there by the way. The cover price is ¥2909 – currently, you can still buy new copies, but at a slightly higher price (around ¥3400).

Toosaka Asagi – Sanctuaire (Hobby Japan, 2022)

The artbook consists of 130 pages in A4 format. It was released in August 2022 by Hobby Japan at the price of ¥3000. The publication, Sanctuaire, showcases the works of Toosaka Asagi, featuring both her original characters and those from Fate/Grand Order.

Konomi – ArtWorks (Kadokawa, 2022)

Konomi's most popular illustrations are the covers of the Liar Liar light novel. In the reviewed artbook there was no absence of material depicting the heroines of this title. In addition, we can see also here the original works of the creator, as well as the heroines of another light novel - Cross Connect.

Kantoku – NOTE Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko. (Kadokawa, Media Factory, 2019)

As I already wrote in my review of another artbook by this author - I fell in love with his design as soon as I watched the first season of One Room. Here we have an issue dedicated to another series where he was also responsible for the character designs - Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko.

Yabuki Kentarou – “Venus” To LOVEru Darkness (Shueisha, 2012)

Yabuki Kentarou - a creator who probably doesn't need to be introduced to most. Best known for his record-breaking popular manga To LOVEru. Venus is another collection of his illustrations from the continuation of that series, To LOVEru Darkness.
