To Aru Kagaku no Railgun T – Visual Book 1 & 2 (Kadokawa, 2021-2022) – Komentarz

This review will cover two artbooks, as they belong to the same series. Both publications contain the official illustrations of the third season of To Aru Kagaku no Railgun showing the series’ heroines in various situations. Published in A4 format, they run to about 80 pages and are bound in color wrappers and obi. Most of the graphics fill entire A4 pages, with quite a few illustrations taking up both pages. I can’t fault anything about the quality of the printing and paper.

Content

It is worth saying something about the content itself. Basically every page contains beautiful art, full of details and brilliantly saturated with colors.

Importantly – these are not screenshots of individual episodes or existing promotional materials. Unfortunately, quite a few artbooks of this kind have been released, but this one is fortunately not one of them. The vast majority are graphics prepared specifically for both artbooks. To Aru Kagaku no Railgun T – Visual Book is divided into thematic sections in the form of chapters. There are those devoted to everyday life, swimsuits, as well as those directly relating to the events presented in the third season. Of course, there is also an introduction of individual heroines. You can find, among other things, information about their voice actresses and a brief description. There’s plenty to choose from. There really is something to look at, and nothing gave the impression that it was crammed in somewhere by force.

The first and second parts of To Aru Kagaku no Railgun T – Visual Book are extremely well done publications. I wholeheartedly recommend them to fans of this universe and collectors of interesting artbooks in general. The prices are not exorbitant, and they will certainly be a valuable part of any collection.

Presentation

Before moving on to the gallery, where you will be able to see some photos of the contents of the artbook, it is appropriate to show how it looks from the outside.

Xenoblade 2 – Official Artworks Alrest Record (Famitsu / Kadokawa, 2019)

Xenoblade 2 is still my favorite game of all time. You can find my review of the original Japanese collector's version here, and there I describe in more detail why and take a closer look at how the Western version differs from the original - in every possible aspect. Although the artbook included with the collector's version is really decently made and shows quite a lot, I couldn't get past the publication that is the subject of this review.

Rurudo – Unreal (Ichijinsha, 2021)

Unreal is divided into four chapters. The first chapter features quite a few original illustrations by rurudo. Including one that was used to create a figurine depicting his character Eve LOVECALL in the exact pose from that illustration (which was scheduled for release last November, but only went on general sale a month ago).

Yom – Kuro Tights (Fakku, 2021)

Kuro Tights is an anthology by Yom, focusing on the theme of tights, or rather, girls wearing them. The artbook features works by various artists, not just Yom himself.

Kimishima Ao – Bloomin’ (Kadokawa, 2022)

Kimishima Ao is the artist responsible for character designs for many visual novels. Both the more famous ones and the lesser known ones. He has also designed several covers for CD singles. The publication contains a lot of original artwork, but also graphics from, for example, Rewrite (Key), Summer Pockets (Key), Koi x Shin Ai Kanojo and Einstein Yori Ai o Komete.
