Toosaka Asagi – Sanctuaire (Hobby Japan, 2022) – My Comment

The artbook consists of 130 pages in A4 format. It was released in August 2022 by Hobby Japan at the price of ¥3000. The publication, Sanctuaire, showcases the works of Toosaka Asagi, featuring both her original characters and those from Fate/Grand Order. With a diverse portfolio, she has created numerous covers and illustrations for various light novels. Additionally, she has contributed to character designs in several anime and avatar projects for several VTubers.

The content is divided into two parts. First 110 pages display the artist’s works, while at the end, she shares her creative process through examples of her works. The last page includes a brief message to fans with her signature.

I can’t fault the print quality. All illustrations look phenomenal with excellent color saturation and contrast. Everything the author meticulously crafted is faithfully reflected on paper. Many pieces span nearly entire pages, and some, like Saber below, span across two pages.

Sanctuaire is worth having in your collection, even if you’re not familiar with the artist. Toosaka Asagi’s works stand out for their meticulous attention to detail, excellent shading, and a well-chosen color palette. It’s a feast for the eyes. Considering the very good print quality and paper, these impressions are further enhanced.

To Aru Kagaku no Railgun T – Visual Book 1 & 2 (Kadokawa, 2021-2022)

This review will cover two artbooks, as they belong to the same series. Both publications contain the official illustrations of the third season of To Aru Kagaku no Railgun showing the series' heroines in various situations.

Akasa Ai – Red Queen (Kadokawa, 2022)

The artbook named Red Queen published by Kadokawa is a collection of original illustrations by Akasa Ai. It counts 128 A4-size pages printed in full color on excellent quality paper. Print quality is impressive - especially when viewing the whole thing live. The publication is divided into eight chapters. The penultimate one shows the author's creative process, while the last two pages show thumbnails of all the pages.

Kimishima Ao – Bloomin’ (Kadokawa, 2022)

Kimishima Ao is the artist responsible for character designs for many visual novels. Both the more famous ones and the lesser known ones. He has also designed several covers for CD singles. The publication contains a lot of original artwork, but also graphics from, for example, Rewrite (Key), Summer Pockets (Key), Koi x Shin Ai Kanojo and Einstein Yori Ai o Komete.

Ogipote – Aikyo Artbook (Kadokawa, 2021)

The artbook has 144 pages in B5 format. The content is divided into 11 thematic chapters. At the very beginning, the author greets us with an explanation of the meaning of the publication's title. Aikyo refers to a charming, enchanting nature or a nostalgic feeling. Enjoy the warm atmosphere of the artworks with unique, beautiful touches.
