Spring 2026 turned out to be an exceptionally strong season and brought a lot of truly great premieres. This time, summer looks a bit calmer for me, which does not mean boredom at all. Quite the opposite – after making my selection, I was left with 12 new titles that really caught my attention and that I want to give a chance. It is a pleasant change after the spring rush, because the list looks focused, but not overwhelming. So let’s see what interesting things Anime Summer 2026 may bring. Especially since there are a few very strong sequels lined up here.
Spring Season Summary
At the very beginning, a brief summary of the previous season. I recommend that you read the linked post, as here I will list in a nutshell the best summer series, which I would consider a waste to omit. The final commentary and rating of each series listed can also be seen in the aforementioned post on the previous season. If I have decided to review a particular title individually, it will be linked below. Only completed series are included here. If I decide to write a full review of a given anime, it will be linked below. Random order.
- Otonari no Tenshi-sama ni Itsunomanika Dame Ningen ni Sareteita Ken 2
- Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e 4th Season: 2-nensei-hen 1 Gakki
- Re:Zero kara Hajimeru Isekai Seikatsu 4th Season
- Kanojo, Okarishimasu 5th Season
- Class de 2-banme ni Kawaii Onnanoko to Tomodachi ni Natta
- Haibara-kun no Tsuyokute Seishun New Game
- Aishiteru Game wo Owarasetai
- Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 3
- Ichijouma Mankitsugurashi!
- Replica datte, Koi wo Suru.
- Koori no Jouheki
Disappointment of the Season?
- Yowayowa Sensei – I was counting on a much better comedy. Unfortunately, this is one of those series that could not carry itself on fanservice alone. It bored me pretty quickly.
Preliminary expectations for the Anime Summer 2026
I’d like to note that this post will be updated as the first episodes premiere. As always, you can expect descriptions, my personal opinion, and screenshots, so I recommend checking back frequently. The PVs (preview videos) can be found in the list under the next heading. I’m slightly changing the format of my preliminary expectations. There is now a bit more information available, presented in a more readable way as well. After the first episodes premiere, the section below will be hidden behind a spoiler tag, as per usual. My commentary will only appear for premieres or sequels where there is something new worth mentioning (like a change in studio or voice actors).

My comment:
Two more things:
- Why do I always start descriptions with the visuals? The answer is simple – it’s usually the first thing we see and, especially in the case of first episodes, it sticks in memory.
- Why don’t I describe/watch Series X? It’s so great and all. I don’t know what will be a commercial hit right now, but if I didn’t list it in my post, it means this anime doesn’t interest me at all. I don’t list such series because it’s a waste of my time to watch them—and by extension, I don’t recommend them—because, as I’ve mentioned many times, I only recommend what interests me.

Leftovers from the previous season:
Information about the content of the Anime Summer 2026 post
Once again, I would like to remind you of the fact that descriptions, pictures, and my opinions about Anime Summer 2026 will appear on a regular basis as the first episodes are released. Order of descriptions below = order of episode premieres. The full schedule for the Anime Summer 2026 season can be found, for example, here.
As in the post about the previous season, under each anime description, my rating (according to the scheme below) will appear after the first episode of the Anime Summer 2026 season:
Yes – I believe the given production is worth attention.
Not quite – in the case of the first episode, this will usually mean that not enough of the plot was shown to recommend the given series. In the case of the sixth episode, the series is average and can be skipped.
No – I do not recommend it; it is a waste of time.
Most series that I like will get separate full reviews after the season ends. I recommend checking the latest posts often.
As always, I will also inform you about translation quality. When there is a better alternative, in my opinion, to the official subs from Crunchyroll or Funimation (and therefore SubsPlease as well), a relevant note will appear after my impressions from the first episode.

Otome Kaijuu Carameliser
Love can drive people mad, but in the case of school outcast Akaishi Kuroe, an ordinary crush can lead to the destruction of Tokyo. For sixteen years, Kuroe has struggled with an incurable and extremely troublesome condition. Whenever she experiences heart-racing romantic excitement, parts of her body spontaneously mutate into grotesque, reptilian shapes. Traumatized by rejection in childhood and convinced that love only brings terror, she has accepted her place at the very bottom of the school hierarchy. She tries not to stand out, keeping her world in strictly gray tones in order to keep her monstrous nature under control at all costs.
Her peaceful, solitary life is thrown into chaos when the incredibly popular school idol Minami Arata, looking for a place to hide from his aggressive fangirls, starts talking to her. To Kuroe’s surprise, Arata does not mock her at all. He sincerely appreciates her hidden kindness and artistic talent, and eventually invites her to eat some special premium pancakes together. When he opens up to her about his old insecurities and shows her genuine warmth, Kuroe’s deeply buried emotions finally reach a boiling point.
Overwhelmed by this unfamiliar surge of real infatuation, Kuroe triggers her condition on an unprecedented, apocalyptic scale. This time, it does not end with her growing a tail or claws — she transforms into a mighty, Godzilla-sized Kaiju monster that emerges from the Sumida River and immediately draws fire from the JSDF.
Do I recommend it after the first episode? Yes – I was not sure how the kaijuu theme would be used. The first episode, however, convinced me that I will get to spend some really pleasant time with this series. I have never seen this kind of combination of kaijuu and, probably, romance before. The visuals also impressed me — well, maybe except for the scene of the main heroine’s full transformation in 3D. Senga Hikari, despite this being only her second anime role, does a really good job as the main heroine.

Kore Kaite Shine
High school student Yasumi Ai, who lives on the island of Izu Oshima, has always found comfort in reading manga. As a lonely girl who struggles to find her place in social relationships, it is her favorite characters who give her the courage to make friends. Her quiet island life takes an unexpected turn when, at a local rental shop, she comes across a forgotten manga titled Robota & Pokota, canceled after just one volume. Ai immediately falls in love with the story, but her joy does not last long. Her strict teacher, Teshima Rei, confiscates the comic and gives her a harsh lecture, claiming that manga is nothing but lies and a complete waste of time.
Undeterred, Ai decides to track down the elusive author of the work, who hides behind the pen name Hoshino Rei. She discovers that the creator is ending a ten-year hiatus to release a new doujinshi at the Comitia event in Tokyo. Driven by overwhelming passion, the girl sets off on a reckless, secret ferry trip across the sea to Tokyo Big Sight to meet her idol. Surrounded by amateur creators, Ai has an epiphany – she realizes that ordinary people can also draw their own comics. The real shock, however, comes when she finally reaches the creator’s booth. It turns out that the brilliant mangaka is none other than her manga-hating teacher, Teshima Rei!
Overjoyed that her favorite author is alive and well, Ai begs the reluctant teacher to teach her how to draw manga. Although Teshima firmly refuses and drags her back to the island by force, a spark has already been lit in the teenager’s heart. Kore Kaite Shine is a moving coming-of-age story and a kind of love letter to the medium, following the unyielding path of an island girl who decides to leave the reader’s seat behind and become a creator herself.
Do I recommend it after the first episode? Yes – I knew this series would catch my interest. The PV and poster were enough for me to get a good sense of the subject. Even so, I did not expect the start to be this good. And in every possible respect. Brilliant visuals, beautiful character designs, genuinely lovely animation, heroines I liked from the very first moments. I am eagerly waiting for the next episodes!

Mushoku Tensei Season 3
A thirty-four-year-old man dies in a car accident while saving a stranger. Though he has accepted his death, he regains consciousness as a newborn in a completely unknown world where magic is part of everyday life. Taking advantage of the fact that he has retained memories from his previous life, he begins training in magic from early childhood. When his parents discover his talent, they immediately decide to hire a powerful magic teacher to help their son develop his skills. That mage turns out to be a young girl – Roxy Migurdia.
Season 3
Do I recommend it after the first episode? Yes – at this stage, I do not really have much to add. The series I was looking forward to the most this season has finally premiered. Thankfully, absolutely nothing has changed on the audiovisual side. The first two episodes, which premiered at the same time, maintained an evenly high level. I am eagerly waiting for the next ones.

Saijo no Osewa: Takane no Hanadarake na Meimonkou de, Gakuin Ichi no Ojousama (Seikatsu Nouryoku Kaimu) wo Kagenagara Osewa suru Koto ni Narimashita
For Tomonari Itsuki, life is an exhausting chain of part-time jobs that pay for his own tuition. His situation turns desperate when his deadbeat parents steal all his savings and flee town, leaving him with only 200 yen in his pocket. As the prospect of homelessness and a bleak future becomes more and more real, a twist of fate drags him right into the middle of a kidnapping targeting Konohana Hinako – the beautiful, composed, and universally admired heiress to Japan’s wealthiest conglomerate.
However, trapped in the back of the kidnappers’ speeding van, Itsuki discovers a shocking secret. Behind closed doors, the seemingly flawless modern princess of the elite Kiou Academy turns out to be a hopelessly lazy, clumsy, and incredibly demanding girl. Completely unfazed by the danger, Hinako demands that he become her new caretaker.
Desperate to protect the Konohana family’s reputation and keep his daughter’s embarrassing true nature hidden from high society, her father makes Itsuki an offer he cannot refuse. He offers him a huge daily salary of 20,000 yen, along with full room and board, in exchange for managing her everyday life.
And so Itsuki has to abandon his old, poverty-stricken life and transfer to a school for the filthy rich, using a fabricated aristocratic background. Under the watchful and extremely intimidating eye of the strict maid Tsurumi Shizune, the boy’s new full-time job becomes looking after a lazy young lady of high society who gets lost in her own mansion and falls asleep in his bed.
Do I recommend it after the first episode? Yes – a pretty interesting start. I did not have high expectations for this series, but I had a good time with the opening episode. For now, it is definitely staying on my list.

Seihantai na Kimi to Boku
Suzuki is a loud and extremely sociable high school girl who is constantly surrounded by friends such as Yamada, Watanabe, and Satou. Her complete opposite is Tani – a quiet boy with glasses who openly says what he thinks and refuses to read the mood or flatter others.
Although in public Suzuki constantly bothers Tani with trivial questions – which he ruthlessly shuts down with complete disinterest – deep down, she is desperately in love with him. She admires his ability to stay true to himself. She notices that he never changes his behavior without a good reason, which fills her with admiration, especially when compared with her own tendency to constantly worry about how others see her.
Season 2
Do I recommend it after the first episode? Yes – I never even considered that the sequel could differ in quality from season 1 in any way. Fortunately, my assumptions were 100% correct. A brilliant start to the second season.

Grand Blue Season 3
Kitahara Iori begins his college life by moving to the seaside town of Izu and living above his uncle’s diving shop, Grand Blue. He dreams of a perfect start to adulthood, full of adventure, love, and the fulfillment of youthful dreams. However, his vision of college life quickly falls apart.
Instead of a peaceful life, he is met by a group of muscular students from the local Diving Club, who spend more time drinking, partying, and stripping off their clothes than actually being underwater. Despite his desperate attempts to stay away from their eccentric antics, Iori is dragged into a whirlwind of endless alcohol-fueled fun. And when his cousin, Kotegawa Chisa, appears at the door of Grand Blue and catches him right in the middle of this embarrassing scene, she makes no attempt to hide her contempt.
Season 3
Do I recommend it after the first episode? Yes – the season starts without any surprises, both visually and in terms of the story itself. This is a direct continuation of the events of the second season.

Toumei na Yoru ni Kakeru Kimi to, Me ni Mienai Koi wo Shita.
Sorano Kakeru, a first-year university student, has mastered the art of blending into the background. Raised by a single mother and used to constantly moving between relatives’ homes, he learned early on that the simplest way to survive was to read the mood around him, keep his head down, and avoid standing out. His attachment to a quiet life is put to the test, however, when his sociable dorm roommate, Narumi Ushio, drags him to a noisy university welcome party.
Disgusted by his peers’ desperate attempts to stand out at any cost, Sorano turns his attention to a quiet corner of the room. There he meets Fuyutsuki Koharu – a gentle, exceptionally polite girl who turns out to be completely blind. Left isolated after the other boys awkwardly fled once they realized she had a disability, Fuyutsuki is accompanied only by her fiercely protective friend and volunteer student guide, Hayase Yuko.
When Hayase asks Sorano to take over as Fuyutsuki’s guide in their shared computer science classes, he is immediately gripped by doubt. Plagued by his own insecurities, he is terrified of crossing a line, saying the wrong thing, or, worse, showing her pity. Even so, as the two begin spending time together between lectures, Sorano slowly finds himself drawn into Fuyutsuki’s fascinating world. Whether she is explaining how deftly she uses a smartphone with a screen reader, joking about Russian roulette when using unfamiliar vending machines, or excitedly expressing her sincere wish to set off fireworks with friends, Fuyutsuki approaches life with a fearless optimism that Sorano himself completely lacks.
Do I recommend it after the first episode? Yes – the start of this anime surprised me a little. Of course, I expected it to be a good series, but the whole thing exceeded my (already high) expectations by quite a lot. On top of that, the visuals are really pretty. Hayami Saori also absolutely delivers, as she does in basically any role. I am looking forward to the next episodes.

Tenkou-saki no Seiso Karen na Bishoujo ga, Mukashi Danshi to Omotte Issho ni Asonda Osananajimi Datta Ken
When Kirishima Hayato, a boy from the countryside, transfers to a high school in Tokyo, he is prepared for the usual culture shock. Raised deep in the mountains, where farm animals outnumber people, he only wants a peaceful school life and the chance to look after his younger sister, Himeko. What he does not expect at all is that the student sitting at the desk next to him will turn out to be his childhood best friend, Nikaido Haruki. There is one huge catch, though – the loud, boyish buddy Hayato used to climb trees and wrestle with is actually a girl! As if that were not enough, Haruki is now the school’s absolute idol – an immaculate, refined, and incredibly sought-after beauty who deliberately presents herself to the rest of the students as completely unapproachable.
However, as soon as they are alone, Haruki drops her elegant disguise. Beneath the perfect facade is the very same pushy and direct friend from years ago. Overwhelmed by her own popularity and longing for genuine companionship, Haruki pulls Hayato into her secret hideout, where the two promise to secretly spend their lunch breaks together every day.
Hayato and Haruki easily fall back into their nostalgic dynamic of doing each other favors, but their relationship no longer feels exactly the same as it did in the old days. As they spend more and more time together, Hayato is forced to notice the striking contrast between the boy he said goodbye to back in the countryside and the beautiful, delicate girl holding his hand in the city.
Do I recommend it after the first episode? Yes – we have a classic setup here with a childhood friend who was mistakenly identified by the protagonist as a guy friend. The visuals are at a decent level, and the character designs are pleasing to the eye. It is also easy to grow attached to the characters themselves, so I think I will gladly return to this anime every week.

Best Openings and Endings – Anime Summer 2026
It’s similar to the year-end recaps, namely – I recommend what I consider awesome in my opinion. Below is a list of my favorite songs from the openings and endings (all of them I consider noteworthy, but the ones I particularly love are marked in bold, while the ones I consider as even more outstanding are marked in green, bold font). The scheme is clear, but I will clarify it:
