The year 2032 was a turning point for the idol world. The slow extinction of this subculture was initiated by the breakup of the legendary 7th Sisters unit. The media began to rally to the end of the idol era, and large corporations took it upon themselves to purchase buildings and land belonging to various agencies. Two years after these events, only a few groups and agencies remained, including 777, better known as Nanastar, whose flagship unit was Nanastar Sisters. Unfortunately, the Nanastar studio couldn’t feel safe either – its owner was drowning in debt, and the CEO of the corporation lending it money is already rubbing his hands to put up his new hotel on the site of their headquarters.
Tokyo 7th Sisters: Bokura wa Aozora ni Naru – Audiovisual design
I must definitely praise LandQ – that is, the studio responsible for the adaptation (which I had my first encounter with, by the way), because no 3D graphics were used here (which, unfortunately, is already the norm in idol series). Moreover, the whole thing looks really nice – there is no lack of detail, the backgrounds are aesthetically pleasing and pleasing to the eye. Character design also appealed to me, and I rather can’t complain about the animation itself – it was very expressive.

The audio part of the music series is an important element. The voices of the characters – as always – were brilliantly chosen and fit the given character types flawlessly. The soundtrack blends perfectly with the whole, while the songs performed by the Nanastar Sisters are varied and quickly catch the ear – definitely a plus. Certainly some of them will fall into my playlist.
Tokyo 7th Sisters: Bokura wa Aozora ni Naru – Plot and Characters
Tokyo 7th Sisters was originally a mobile game released for Android and iOS devices. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity (or the desire, since mobile games don’t tend to interest me) to play it, so I won’t be able to compare the plot line of the game and the movie – but I have the impression that the movie is a separate entity, probably being a prequel to the events presented in the game. In the film, we are introduced to the fate of a group of Nanastar Sisters – idols without a proper technical background and manager, who decide to help save the Nanastar studio and the entire idol subculture from collapse.
Contrary to appearances, this is not an easy task – not least because the owner of Nanastar has taken out a lot of loans that he is unable to repay in any way. The CEO of the lending company is also becoming a problem, as he not only aims to bring about Nanastar’s collapse, but also wants to get rid of any trace of idol culture altogether.W tym miejscu chciałbym się na chwilę zatrzymać – wspomniany antagonista to z pewnością najgorszy aspekt tej historii. Tak źle napisanego antagonisty (mimo, iż finalny przekaz jest całkiem trafny) już dawno nie widziałem w anime.
I won’t go into details, as I don’t want to spoil unnecessarily – but when the reason for his actions was revealed, I was overwhelmed with considerable disappointment.
Fortunately – as is usually the case, the main plot is only a background for all the characterization and portrayal of the relationships between the heroines, so one can safely turn a blind eye to this fact – especially since these aspects come off brilliantly.
There are quite a few female characters themselves, which also translates into a wide variety of characters. Each girl experiences the performances and the situation in which they find themselves in her own way. They are united by a common goal – to give their best at their concerts and convey as much positive energy as possible.
The ending deserves praise – it is not overly dramatic, but it is not sugarcoated either. It clearly shows that not everything in life can be achieved with a smile, a positive attitude, the will to fight and a good job, while at the same time it unquestionably encourages action and challenge by encouraging you to get out of the pattern and live by your own rules.

Evaluation and summary
Undoubtedly, it is not a masterpiece (also on the subject of idols themselves). Nevertheless, if one does not have some strange prejudice – it is worth spending some time and watching this film. A lot of good music, really pleasantly written characters, great visuals and voice acting. On the downside, the aforementioned antagonist.

Final evaluation

Which translation do I recommend to watch Tokyo 7th Sisters: Bokura wa Aozora ni Naru
- Nyanpasu – brilliantly done subtitles, every song has been translated, and the translation of the dialogues themselves is just on point without some strange treatments and unnecessary localization. I can recommend with a clear conscience.
