Misaka Mikoto – B-style 1/4 – To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (FREEing 2022) – My Comment

Introduction

I preordered the figure on Japanese Amazon. A few days ago, a DHL courier showed up at my door with the shipment. So I welcomed another 1/4 scale B-Style FREEing’s figure in my collection. As with the Shokuhou Misaki (also from To Aru Kagaku no Railgun T) reviewed earlier this year (you can read that review here). Its size impressed me. It may not have been as surprising as Misaki, however, there was still a “wow” effect. Box was already quite big (almost 50 cm).

Workmanship

As for the quality of workmanship – it is no different than other FREEing B-Style / Bunny figurines in 1/4 scale, and each of them is very impressive when you look at them. The statue is made with attention to detail, with no scratches or other artifacts of carelessness in the manufacturing process. Nor is there a grain of dust on it. The sculpt of the body and face looks great. Quality of the painting stands at a decent level, especially when you consider its size. The hair could have been shaded better, but here I am already clinging to details. For fans of the figure, the To Aru Kagaku no Railgun series or simply bunny lovers, I wholeheartedly recommend it again.

Other remarks and summary

The height means that even without bunny ears (they can be pulled out) it will not go on any shelf in the most popular showcase among collectors – Detolf from Ikea. I solved the problem by buying Plexiglas boards, which I then glued together with the help of a hotglue gun. It came out tolerably, but thanks to this both figures will no longer catch dust. Nevertheless, I warn those interested in buying them to measure their shelves (or other places where you place your figures) before ordering. For fans of the character, the To Aru Kagaku no Railgun series or simply bunny lovers, I wholeheartedly recommend again. Before the gallery, where I tried to present the figure accurately from every possible side and perspective, I put a photo of Mikoto and Misaki side by side.

Chocola Chinese Dress Ver. – 1/7 – Nekopara (Good Smile Company, 2022)

I'm not some big fan of the Nekopara series. I read the visual novel at a time when no one was talking about it yet, but since it was one of the most entry-level VNs I've encountered (even if we're talking about the version with a proper patch), it somehow didn't particularly stick in my head. However, that doesn't mean it detracts from the visuals, which were really nice - including the character designs, of course. The figure featured in this review appealed to me outstandingly, which is why it ended up on the shelf in my detolf.

Asakura Ryouko – B-style 1/4 – Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (FREEing, 2008)

This was my first 1/4 scale figure. After opening the large box, I was impressed by the size and massiveness of this statue - at least 32cm does the job. It's worth mentioning that part of the outfit (tights) was made of real material.

Takemoto Uruka – 1/7 – Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai (Phat Company, 2022)

It's hard not to buy a figurine portraying your favorite character from a series, especially when the series itself is held in high regard. In addition, I am used to the quality of Phat! Company products, so I ordered this figure without a second thought.

Kurosaki Mea & Yami – To LOVEru Darkness (Max Factory / Pop Up Parade, 2022)

This time I decided to review two figures from the To LOVEru series because they were both released as Pop Up Parade and come from one - let's call it a collection (swimsuits). The Pop Up Parade figures are very popular due to their price, which is often lower than those released as Prize. It should be obvious that at such a price range you will not get anything outstanding with detail, meticulously performed quality control or detailed painting.
