Koakuma Rias-chan – 1/6 – Original Character (Bishop’s Rondo, 2020) – My Comment

Introduction

The figurine was created based on an illustration by Ayuma Sayu. Koakuma Rias-chan. It is an original design by this artist. The manufacturer is Bishop’s Rondo, a company mainly engaged in transferring original figures into 3D form in the form of high-quality figurines.

Workmanship

Speaking of quality, there are a few details to pay attention to in this case. When it comes to figurines in this price range, quality control should stand at a very high level. Here, however, something has gone wrong. On the one hand, the whole thing impresses with attention to detail, great sculpting and painting with good shading. On the other hand, you can see a lot of tiny damages and (in my case) one quite serious one. A scratch on her thighs. Although it is not visible if all the clothes are put on, but when putting the whole thing together it was very glaring to my eyes.

The worst thing is that this is not an isolated case. In the comments (for example, on My Figure Collection) quite a few people complain about similar defects. Some were not as lucky as I was. In their cases the larger damage was in much more visible places. As for the fit of the elements and the quality of the base – here I can complain about absolutely nothing. All clothing pieces, accessories and attachment to the stand were made with adequate precision. There is no problem with attaching anything.

Other remarks and summary

It’s also worth mentioning that after removing Koakuma Rias-chan from the box, you have to unfold it all and pull out the protective films. This requires delicacy and patience. The end result is well worth it.

In conclusion – if the quality control had not failed, I could recommend it to any collector wholeheartedly due to its brilliant value for money. In the case of this particular figure, however, it is literally a lottery. There are certainly flawless copies. There is just no guarantee of getting just one. Nevertheless, the figure looks simply marvelous. Just take a look at some of the photos I’ve included below to see the attention to detail and precise painting.

Tokisaki Kurumi – 1/7 (Alluring Kimono Ver.) – Date a Live (KDColle, 2020)

Another 1/7th scale Kurumi figure has landed in my collection. This time dressed in kimono. As soon as I saw it, I just couldn't resist and it immediately ended up in my shopping basket. The figurine was priced at ¥20000, and the quality of workmanship leaves no doubts that it is worth the price.

Yoshida Yuuko – 1/7 Swimsuit Ver. – Machikado Mazoku(Kotobukiya, Medicos Entertainment, 2021)

Machikado Mazoku is one of my favorite yonkoma published in Manga Time Kirara. It also has a brilliant anime adaptation that makes it even more enjoyable to watch, primarily because of how phenomenally the voice actors did their job (especially Kohara Konomi as the main character). Anyway, I already wrote a review on the adaptation, which you can read here. However, I didn't have a figurine representing any of the heroines so far, so it was about time to get one.

Hoshii Miki – 1/7 Angelic Island ver. – THE iDOLM@STER (Kotobukiya, 2012)

Six versions of the Angelic Island figures were produced - Hagiwara Yukiho, Ganaha Hibiki, Takatsuki Yayoi, Amami Haruka and Hoshii Miki, the one covered in this post. Each was sold for ¥7800. This is a slightly higher standard of figures than the cheap Pop Up Parade figures popular in Poland.

Miura Azusa – 1/8 – THE iDOLM@STER (Phat Company, 2016)

When I first saw this figure, I immediately added it to my must-have list. I was charmed by the amount of detail and how well the model of this figure looks in 3D, which is not always so obvious. Of course, this is thanks to Mazaki Yuusuke, because good design and sculpting is essential.
