Kantoku – Yori Michi (Limited Edition, Kosaido Publishing) – My Comment

I fell in love with Kantoku’s artstyle as soon as I watched the first season of One Room. While browsing his profile on pixiv, I noticed that an artbook featuring his work is being released. Without a second thought I ordered it. I opted for the limited edition because the price difference wasn’t that big. What did I gain in the limited edition? Firstly, the whole thing was enclosed in a rather thick cardboard box, from which you could slide out the contents. Secondly, the artbook itself has a hardcover (with a wrapper).

Additionally, I received a book of several pages in A4 format with sketches of selected drawings included in the Yori Michi. However, there is no difference between number of pages and illustrations between limited and normal edition, but covers are different (completely different illustration was chosen for limited edition). A nice touch is also the use of glossy hologram-colored paint on the inscriptions (unfortunately it’s impossible to capture it in the picture).

As for the print quality itself – I really can’t complain about anything. The paper is thick and the colors are perfectly rendered. Artbook has 160 pages and the book with sketches has 18 pages. The whole thing is undoubtedly worth its price. I personally placed an order at CDJapan. At the time of publishing this entry you can still order the limited edition. However, if the print run runs out you might as well buy the regular edition.

Kantoku – Yori Michi (Limited Edition, Kosaido Publishing) – Prezentacja

Before we move on to the gallery, where you can see some pictures of the artbook’s contents, it’s good to show how it looks from the outside. The box that contains the contents has a colorful print that matches the cover of the collector’s edition.

The back of the box looks the same way.

There are two books inside. One of them contains sketches of selected illustrations. While the paper used for printing is as thick as the artbook, here we have a soft cover.

And now it’s time for the icing on the cake – the artbook itself. This is how it looks like in the wrapper:

Mateusz Urbanowicz – Tokyo Storefronts (MdN Corporation, 2018)

Tokyo Storefronts is a collection of illustrations by Mateusz Urbanowicz. He probably doesn't need any introduction (at least in my country, because he's from Poland), but I'll just write briefly that he went to Japan to study the art of drawing. The fruits of his work in the form of backgrounds can be seen in the movie Kimi no Na wa (and to have such a thing in your portfolio is really a feat for a gaijin).

Ogipote – Aikyo Artbook (Kadokawa, 2021)

The artbook has 144 pages in B5 format. The content is divided into 11 thematic chapters. At the very beginning, the author greets us with an explanation of the meaning of the publication's title. Aikyo refers to a charming, enchanting nature or a nostalgic feeling. Enjoy the warm atmosphere of the artworks with unique, beautiful touches.

Kantoku – Sailor Fuku no Mannaka Anthology (Wani, 2019)

Another Kantoku artbook in my collection. This time it's an anthology under his leadership with the theme of Japanese sailor school uniforms, or rather girls wearing them. The publication includes works by various artists, not just those of the initiator.

Fuzichoco – Sai Gen Kyo (Genkosha, 2020)

The publication contains 192 pages. It consists almost exclusively of illustrations printed on very good quality chalkboard paper. It features fold-out pages with, among others, characters from Fate/Grand Order, Touhou Project or Vocaloids, Onmyoji and Hachi-nan tte, Sore wa Nai deshou!
