The Best Anime Winter 2024 Series That I Recommend
The end of the year is coming. It’s high time to welcome the next one and thus prepare two entries. Summary of the year and recommendations for the winter season. This time I’m preparing some highly anticipated sequels and a few titles that caught my attention in some way.
Yukine Chris (Lovely Sweater Style) – 1/7 – Senki Zesshou Symphogear AXZ (Good Smile Company, 2023)
As I was finishing watching Senki Zesshou Symphogear (review here), I decided I wanted a figure of one of my favorite characters. Confident that there would be a wide selection, I began my search. To my surprise, despite the series’ considerable popularity in Japan, there are relatively few figures available.
Senki Zesshou Symphogear / 戦姫絶唱シンフォギア (2012-2019)
Kazanari Tsubasa and Amou Kanade formed the legendary idol unit known as Zwei Wing. They use their songs to power ancient relics used as Symphogear to fight Noise – creatures of unknown origin against which conventional weapons do not work. Humans are familiar with the existence of the Noise, but knowledge of the Symphogear is kept strictly confidential. One day the Noise attack one of Zwei Wing’s concerts.
Mary Skelter 2 (2018) (Nintendo Switch)
Otsuu and The Little Mermaid are members of a group called Dawn, active within Jail – a living prison that sustains itself on the people it imprisons. This prison emerged several years ago after the city around it collapsed. Now, bizarre entities known as Marchen and Nightmare wander its hallways. Otsuu and her team strive to endure these frightful beings.
Ogipote – Aikyo Artbook (Kadokawa, 2021)
The artbook has 144 pages in B5 format. The content is divided into 11 thematic chapters. At the very beginning, the author greets us with an explanation of the meaning of the publication’s title. Aikyo refers to a charming, enchanting nature or a nostalgic feeling. Enjoy the warm atmosphere of the artworks with unique, beautiful touches.
Konomi – ArtWorks (Kadokawa, 2022)
Konomi’s most popular illustrations are the covers of the Liar Liar light novel. In the reviewed artbook there was no absence of material depicting the heroines of this title. In addition, we can see also here the original works of the creator, as well as the heroines of another light novel – Cross Connect.
Ao no Orchestra / 青のオーケストラ (2023)
From an early age, Aono Hajime admired his world-famous violinist father, who inspired him to take such a career path himself. However, after his parents divorce, he decides that he will never play the violin again and chooses an ordinary high school without an afterthought.
TenPuru (Temple) / てんぷる (2023)
Akagami Akemitsu’s father was famous for surrounding himself with many women. The boy greatly admired his father as a child. Unfortunately, as he grew up, rumors began to spread about him. Akemitsu decided not to follow in his father’s footsteps and lead a decent life.
The Best Anime Fall 2023 Series That I Recommend
The days are getting shorter, the heat is slowly receding, September is coming to an end. The next anime season starts soon, so it’s high time to prepare a post with the most interesting series premiering this fall for me.
Natsu e no Tunnel, Sayonara no Deguchi / 夏へのトンネル, さよならの出口 (2022)
After the death of a younger sister and the divorce of his parents, Touno Kaoru is unable to find his place at home. After a harsh confrontation with his drunken father, he runs out of the house and discovers a mysterious tunnel. Confused by what he sees inside, he runs away, picking up a parrot along the way that looks identical to his long-dead pet.
Kantoku – Sailor Fuku no Mannaka Anthology (Wani, 2019)
Another Kantoku artbook in my collection. This time it’s an anthology under his leadership with the theme of Japanese sailor school uniforms, or rather girls wearing them. The publication includes works by various artists, not just those of the initiator.
Eiyuu Densetsu: Sen no Kiseki (The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel) (2013)
Rean Schwarzer is just beginning his education at the prestigious Thors military school. It is renowned for its rather modern approach to teaching. As one of the few elite establishments, it allows people to study where they do not come from noble households.
